Welcome to the Department of Design and Innovation at the School of Business and Law. We focus on business as the process of adding value through solving customers' problems with new products and services. We have a particular interest and expertise in Design, which we view as a generic problem solving discipline that lies at the heart of user-centred innovation. We apply Design Thinking across a broad range of business and market problems to realise optimum, human-centred solutions.
The Department of Design and Innovation is home to the disciplines of Design, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at NUI Maynooth. We teach in these areas at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and we have a growing number of exciting research projects up to PhD level. From Autumn 2009 we will deliver a range of professional development workshops for practising business managers.
Mission
We produce world-class graduates and research output in design and innovation related subjects, providing an excellent service to students, the University and the State. We put Design Thinking, practised in a stimulating and creative environment, at the heart of our multi-disciplinary innovation and entrepreneurship activities. We achieve excellence through rigorous and innovative practices in our teaching, research and professional education.
